Itinerary
Day one - Casablanca : Arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, private transfer to your hotel. Time allowing, optional visit to Hassan II Mosque in afternoon. Late afternoon group meeting with overview of tour, followed by a “meet and greet” group dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight Casablanca.
Day two – Casablanca to Chefchaouen : After breakfast, depart to Chefchaouen via Rabat, enjoy a short visit to the Hassan Tower (Minaret of an incomplete 12th century Mosque) and the mausoleum of Mohammed V. Continue to the 50 shades of blue city – the Pearl of Morocco – Chefchaouen. Local lunch along the way. On arrival, check into riad with free time to explore at leisure, dinner at a local restaurant of your choice. Overnight Chefchaouen.
Day three - Chefchaouen: After breakfast, short orientation tour of the blue medina and Place Outa el Hammam, rest of the day is free to explore at leisure. Optional hike to the site of the old unused Spanish Mosque to enjoy a breath-taking late-afternoon sunset view of the blue city while listening to the sunset Call to Prayer. Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant of your choice. Overnight Chefchaouen.
Day four - Chefchaouen to Fes After breakfast, say goodbye to the blue city and depart to the ancient Imperial city of Fes. On the way, visit the magnificent and well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis (UNESCO world heritage site) at the foot of Jebel Zerhoun, followed by a local lunch along the way. In Fes, check into riad with free time to explore at leisure, with dinner at a restaurant of your choice, or optional pastilla dinner, dress-up in traditional Moroccan clothes and dance to Amazigh music at a local family house. Overnight Fes.
Day five - Fes: Enjoy a traditional breakfast before departing on a 9am to 3pm locally guided tour of the alleys and souks of the old medina known as Fes el Bali (Unesco World Heritage site). Learn about and explore the Chouara tanneries with stops for some local crafts demonstrations and a chance to purchase authentic Fes products – ceramics, textiles, copper and leather. Lunch in the ancient medina. Return to your riad, with free time rest of afternoon and evening to explore Bab Boujloud (the famous Blue Gate) and the souks beyond at leisure and hunt for some bargains, or simply stroll through the alleys taking in the sights and smells of this unique city. Dinner at a restaurant of your choice. Overnight Fes.
Day six - Fes to Merzouga: Today is a long drive and an early start. Depart to Merzouga with take-away breakfast, through Ifrane, the Swiss village of Morocco and the Azrou cedar forests, with a short stop in the forest to view the Barbary monkeys. Stop in Midelt for lunch (optional lunch on apple farm with local family), follow the desert road and admire the great expanse and panoramic views of the Gorges du Ziz. Upon arrival at the desert town of Merzouga, embark on an exciting and memorable sunset camel safari into the orange desert dunes to our luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner with ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire, or lie on a dune gazing in awe at the shimmering silver of the stunning milky way. Overnight in Merzouga desert at a luxury desert camp.
Day seven - Merzouga to Ksar Aït Ben Haddou: After early morning sunrise breakfast, enjoy a 4x4 drive back to Merzouga village, and depart to your new destination of the crumbling ancient Ksar Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO world heritage site) through the Todgha valley and gorge (lunch in the gorge), Rose valley, Skoura and Ouarzazate. In Rose valley, stop at a women’s rose products co-operative to learn how rose water is made from the thousands of roses being harvested here every year in April/May. Check into riad with free time to relax. Overnight at Aït Ben Haddou village.
Day eight – Ksar Aït Ben Haddou to Marrakech: After breakfast, time to explore the ksar and visit the small, charming shops hidden around unexpected corners. A highlight is to see how the famous fire paintings are created! Depart to the magical Imperial red city of Marrakech by crossing the stunning and scenic Tizi n’Tichka high Atlas Mountain pass. Stop at a local women’s argan oil co-operative for a traditional argan oil-making demonstration and opportunity to buy organic argan products. In Marrakech, check into riad, have local lunch in the medina followed by a short orientation tour of the famous Jemaa el Fna, labyrinth of medina alleyways, souks and Mosques. Enjoy free time rest of late afternoon and evening to explore at leisure. A rooftop dinner at a restaurant of your choice is highly recommended! Overnight Marrakech.
Day nine - Marrakech: Today is a free day to discover and explore the wonders of exotic Marrakech! After breakfast, visit the famous Jemaa el Fna, followed by a visit to the souks, discovering the secret spices that make all Moroccan dishes delectable and delicious. Time to learn the art of bargaining your way through the magnitude of magical traditional products and enjoy a fabulous day of shopping and exploring! Local lunch in the souks. Group farewell dinner will be in the famous, lively Jemaa el Fna, while opening yourself up to its noisy, busy, vibrant, and magical nightlife. Overnight Marrakech.s. Optional guided camel or horse ride on the beach. Sunset rooftop seafood dinner, overnight in the Essaouira medina.
Day ten - Marrakech to Casablanca: 7am departure back to Casablanca with drop off at the Mohammed V International airport at a time suitable to your flight departure schedule. Breakfast along the way at a refreshment stop.
